Today, Saturday December 1st Team ReelTime had the pleasure of running a 1/2 day trip for Mr. Roland Butler of Chesapeake, Virginia. We left the dock at 6:45AM with the winds calm from the WSW. The seas were 1 to 2 feet, the water temp was around 53 degrees and the tide was a ripping ebb tide. The sunrise was broken by low cloud cover and the enitre seen had the potential for a productive morning.
With incoming weather we were lucky to have such a nice morning! As we approached one of our popular rockfish haunts, we started marking fish and observed birds feeding on bait with the outgoing tide! And then BAM, Roland had his first FISH-ON - A nice fillet size Schoolie:

With the skunk out of the box, we worked the pod and Roland caught fish both casting Shad bodies and trolling. Roland is a true Angler and handled every aspect of Rockfishing extremely well! Before the wind tuned on (And I mean it started kicking about 20 to 25 from the NNE), we put Roland into 3 different pods of fish. Here's a snapshot of Roland with our limit of fat slot fish:

Roland C&R'd over two dozen rockfish and we used the live well so that he could trade up in size after we had our limit!
W.T.G. and outstanding job, Roland!!!
We continued the catch and release fun until the sea state got too sloppy for comfort and then headed back in to the dock as late morning approached. It was a fun but rough morning and I talked to many anglers who returned with empty coolers because the weather had built quickly and forced them back in. NOAA had posted a Small Craft Advisory. You have to put safety first and there will be other days for those folks, so it's better to come back empty handed...
But not Roland - He got his own limit plus some!!! WTG and outstanding job !!! It was great to have you onboard and we look forward to your next trip with us aboard ReelTime!
Good Luck, Tight Lines and See You on the Water,
Captain Fletcher Dunton - USCG Liscensed, OUPV
PS- We have key weekend dates available in December and January! And with the recent series of cold snaps and winter weather, we expect larger fish to start showing up any day now!!!. So let us and we'll be glad to setup your next charter aboard ReelTime!
