11/11/2007 6:43 PM Alert

Summary: On Sunday, 11/11 the weather cleared up and we took the opportunity to put a fun-packed trip together for one of our VIP's.  We met our client at the dock at 2PM and we limited out around 4:45PM.  Then we continued our trip with some catch and release action until dark.

Here's a recap of the weekend and more detail on the day's events:  For most of the weekend a small craft advisory was posted and unfortunately, we had to cancel our Saturday party which was a Charter of 4 anglers coming in town from Northern, VA. This was a real bummer for both our guests and crew.

But today the wind lifted and gave way to calm seas and mild air temperatures.   The water temperature was in the upper 50's and overall we new it had the potential of being a successful day.

And favorably, Team ReelTime had a guest interested in Striper Fishing so we casted off about 2:20PM.  We made our way toward the CBBT and marked a few fish and began to soak bait.  Within a few minutes our guest had his first Striper of the Season on, which was a nice 24" schoolie...

Way to go, Robert !!!

After getting the skunk out the box for Robert, we continued to work the outgoing tide with a few dinks, one hugh hit and a hang up which made us double back to clear the lines and reset everything.

Then, as the Sun dipped down things started happening and we observed an overwhelming number birds working the surface:

There were "birds to the left us and birds to the right"...

So, we bootlegged out to find the edge but overall they were spread out far and were feeding from the CBB back to the beach.  Everyone gave a thumbs up and we went after them...

To our guest's and crew's delight there were tons of nice 18 to 28 inch Striped Bass underneath and we had FISH ON every rod within minutes.  We had many Double Knock Downs and several Chinese Fire Drills that really gave us a charge as we filled the fish box! ...

The action continued and we were able to use our large live well to trade up on some of smaller (22 inch) fish for 24 - 28 inch fish.  We probably C&R'd over 30 fish and that's about where I stopped counting. Below is a photo showing our limit, along with Rob's largest catch:

What a blast! A good time was had by all and we made plans to run a trip again for our VIP on Monday 11/12 (Veteran's Day)!
