The 2007 Rockfish Season is off to a nice start and we ran an evening trip today and focused on catching Schoolies around the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. We had success both with catch and release fun and putting our limit in the Cooler! Here's a look at some nice Schoolies ...

* These 4 Striped Bass above are in the 19" to 21" class and are fun to catch and tasty to eat !!! *
Along with the Striper, we also had success catching a few Blue Fish and a very nice "Bonus Fish" - Red Drum. Here's a photo of our 1st mate, Carl with the Red Drum:

* The Red Drum measured out at 24 1/4" and gave a nice fight! WTG, Carl !!! *
We marked plenty of fish on the bottom and this is where we had the most success. However, as the season progresses the local stock will instinctively start to feed heavier for winter and we'll start to see them school up for some hot surface action. The surface will boil with Striper feeding on bait fish. This is called a hive and casting light to medium top water baits to them is a load of fun!! This will happen soon...
Also, as the weather pushes the water temparature down, we should start to see Striped Bass show up from the northeast: NJ, NE and Montauk, NY. With this, we expect to the action heat up and your chance to catch a nice big Citation will never be better! But as for now, the schoolies are a load of fun to catch and we are having success using a veriety of techniques and tackle.
Here are some ideas so that you are ready to charter when we to tell you "The bite is on":
Eitherway, we hate to see folks delay booking with us and then have to hear that dreaded phrase -
"You should have been there ! ..."
