12/21/2008 2:29 PM Alert

Saturday we planned a full day charter for the Rogers Party and intended on Eeling over on the Eastern Shore.  We'll with the wind and sea state starting to build at 2-3 foot seas, 15-20 NE and a Small Craft Advisory before we left the dock, our party decided that trolling closer to home might be more in line.  .

We got our 5 man limit before it got too nasty!

So, we headed to the CBJ Bouy and set out a 5 line spread, complete with chartreuse and while Mojo's, Inlines 8oz and Tomics and a Stretch 25 on the WWB.

Congrats to Artavia and Ted, on their 1st Striper !

Out first troll was headed North into a 2-3 ft head sea and we were getting good marks with a lot of gannets dive bombing all around. Boy, I love this time of the year! Two of our guests had never caught Chesapeake/VB Striper before so they decided to give the youngest, Ted first up.  Out 1st knock down of the day was on the STB side Tomic and boy did the rod bend.  It was an aggressive fish and head shaker and unfortunately, Ted lost the fish 1/2 way to the boat.  However, Ted redeemed himself on the second knock down and 1st mate Carl netted a nice schoolie and brought it on-board.  Congrats Ted !!!!

We continued the troll and quickly managed to hook up with another nice schoolie for Ted's dad ArtaviaCongrats Artavia!  We continued to work the area and moved a little more back towards Cape Henry when veteran Angler, Hank Rogers boated his 1st fish on the day, a nice 28" schoolie.  As the hour progressed and party rotated through boating fish, Ted landed a fat 33" striper and we continued boat many many slot fish. They could have been bigger but were a real blast for our party to fight and land.   The Rogers Party and Team Reeltime made quick work of limiting out and started to trade up on Schoolies.  The final count was total of 19 Rockfish: 9 released and 10 nice schoolies kept for Holiday Table Fair! By then it was close to 11AM.  The seas were building steadfily with 4 to 5 footers and an occasional 6 footer thrown in, so we pulled up our spread and headed back to the dock.

Overall it was a fun morning, great crew and Team Reeltime really enjoyed the fellowship and putting these guys on fish!
