REELTIME WRAP-UP: April, May, June 2008
May and June were interesting months around the lower bay and near shore. Team Reeltime began the spring season running trips for Tautog and Flounder. As you can see, the Taugs were fun and the 19" flounder regs proved challenging for all:

The April bite for flounder was delayed and we can only attribute it to the Nor' Easters that we had every other week were part of the culprit...

However, we did find a few keepers, but there were many throw back. While the surface water temp showed signs of warming up, the water column lagged and stayed in the 40's for an extened time.
So, we shifted gears and enjoyed putting folks on String Striper! The spring Rock season came in with a bang and and action fun. Customers enjoyed a nice catch both nice schoolies and a few sizeable catch and release cows !

This was Carol's first Striper, a nice 37" cow!

A back to back catch for Ricky. Above a nice 37" schoolie and below, a nice 40" Personal Best for Ricky...

Even fresh water Bass Anglers crewed up with us for great Evening Action along the CBBT..

The Rockfish season was coincident and overlapped with other inshore species like Red and Black Drum on the shoals. We were booked solid for Rockfish, but did run a minumum number of trips and managed to get on a few nice Reds...

These were a blast to catch on Circle hooks and provided fun C&R action!

Check out the that BLING !!!
Also, we scouted for Cobia in early June. There were signs on a few on the IMG and north of there and we've even seen a few finning on the western shore near some on the inlets! However the bite has been moderate at best so far. They will hopefully and most likely change in July and August!
In mid June we had a few days of hot weather and the temp came up enough for the inshore bite to pop. And with this, it turned out to be a great month to put folks on Spanish Mackeral off of the Cape:
Folks on Reeltime enjoyed steady action and peaks of double and triple knock downs!

Nice Job and WTG, Larry, Glenn and Ricky!

Brian and Gage (father/son) with the first double knock down of the morning!

The Burd Party found a nice class of fish on 24 to 40 feet of water with the upper size around 21 inches...

Ummm, Ummm, Good! - Get out the fillet knife and baking dish !!!

And last but not least - Here's my daughter, an up and coming Lady Angler making it look easy and rubbing in the fact that she is already on track in 2008 for here NEXT Virginia Tournament Junior Angler's Award! - You go Girl !!!
