Over the past week, Team ReelTime has had the pleasure of running several trips for customers and managed to put them on Reds, C&R Striper and Spanish Mackerel. Below is a snapshot of Larry, Glenn and Ricky who enjoyed great action on a half day trip catching Spanish Mackeral!

Awesome job and W.T.G. guys!!!

These guys had a blast and we enjoyed putting them on fish!

Spanish like these (15” to 19”) can be caught near shore along the beach from the CBJ line and back in towards the Cape.  They  are also starting to move in to the CBB Islands.  Gold or Silver Clark Spoons with either inline weights or down planers work well.

We also had success over the past weeks targeting Reds and Rock Fish for C & R Fun (Catch and Release).  Here’s a photo of George from the Hackney party with a nice 34 inch Red Drum.  We put George on this guy using live bait in 20 feet of water near the CBBT:

Great Teamwork , Carl & George!!!

This Red took the bait and made several nice runs.  We had to laugh because George was untangling the line on his spinning reel when the Drum hit.  First Mate, Carl turned to George and in a low key voice said “You might want to crank the reel once and then set the hook” LOL! In any event, George did a great job managing the rod and quickly got on an even keel and land the fish on the second run.  We were quick to net the fish as green as we could, get this photo and release it back to the bay healthy!

While Reds have biting on live bait of various type, so have nice size Rockfish.  VMRC regs stipulate you can only catch and release after June 15, but they are fun to catch and provide great pulleage.  Below is a photo of on of our guests, Ricky who successfully C&R’d this nice 34 inch and then turned around only moments later and caught a 40 inch Rockfish !!!

... And below is Carl with Ricky’s other catch, a nice 40” Fish! …

Congrats Ricky-O and WTG !!!

Both of these were released healthy back to the Bay.  In summary, it’s been a good month so far and the fishing is really starting to pickup!  We will be running inshore trips for these species, as well as Cobia and Flounder well into July.

We are take reservations for the following species, but please book in advance, because things are filling up!  ...
